WHY YOU SHOULD SHOULD SAY "F*CK YES!" TO HAVING A GRATITUDE JOURNAL

I know what you might be thinking.

Gratitude Journal! Another one of these pointless self-help things my mom wants me to do but please stay with me here. There was a time when I thought the same thing. I mean how could just writing 3 things a day really do anything for me?

 

WHAT IS HAS DONE FOR ME & WHAT IT CAN DO FOR YOU

A few months ago after getting a cool looking journal, I found in Ecuador, I thought I might as well give it a try- because I had this empty journal with nothing to write in it. Since then, I have seen a dramatic increase in my positive attitude and happiness.

Because of the huge difference I saw,  I decided to look into the science behind it and as it turns out...

 For those that dislike words but enjoy math and stats, I included this graph above for you to illustrate this idea.

"a five-minute a day daily gratitude journal can increase your long-term well-being by more than 10 percent."

That’s the same impact as if you were to double your income right now.

So yes, I'm saying that maybe instead of arguing for the Benson desk to double your paycheck, first start by having a gratitude journal. 

 

 

 

MY GRATITUDE JOURNAL & SOME TIPS 

So you have decided to say "F*CK YES!" to my proposal. That's great! Here are some ways I have found success in this activity.

  1. Keep the journal in a certain spot and write in it at the same time each day - I keep mine by my bedside and write in it before I go to bed 

  2. Focus on 3 things you are thankful for in the day - I find this helps me also reflect on the blessings in my day and helps me keep a small record of my daily life

  3. Concentrate and take your time - Anyone can write 3 things down but by taking time to think out the good in your day, you will experience the full benefits.
